Distraction

My course 'How Writers Write poetry' has just begun. It is from the Iowa Writers Program through Canvas Network. Though it is a lot of fun, it is a lot of work too. That coupled with the Napowrimo and I've written as much poetry this month as what I might have written in the last ten years put together.

I've realised Television and Social Media do tend to eat into my day too. Friends, arts and crafts are distractions that I can't say no to, because I can't write without those stimulations. Hubby and kids are life and not distractions. So, the time that goes into that can't even be counted.

I think the day I give up my phone and FB, or at least FB in my phone, will be the day I can add a few more hours to my week. However, I'm not sure whether I will ever do that. A little poem on that dilemma...

A clock that won’t stop ticking-
A phone that won’t stop beeping-
If what I want is not what I love,
Then will I love what I get?

  1. Yes, they are such distractions. But I still fall prey to them, time and again.
It's great that you've been able to distance yourself, Archana.
Bravo! And here's to more writing ..no wait, distraction-free writing
